A rare and charming poster for the first Polish release of the 1941 feature-length compilation of Chaplin's 1917 comedy shorts for Mutual Film Corporation: The Adventurer, The Cure, Easy Street and The Immigrant, which were presented with a lively score and sound effects. Featuring quirky artwork by Roman Cieslewicz of the iconic little tramp, the Polish title Smiech Zambroniony translates as 'Laughter Prohibited'.
Condition
Excellent (A-)
Backed on Japan paper. Prior to backing this poster had one vertical and three horizontal machine folds, tiny losses to corners, wear and minor splits to fold lines and a couple of tiny tears to edges. Backing and minor colour touching has smoothed and diminished the fold lines. Colour touching to a tiny loss at upper left corner. A few spots of darkening to edges. image and colours otherwise excellent.
