The Monster that terrorized the world! A spine chilling poster for a 1960s US re-release of the classic 1931 Universal horror Frankenstein, the most iconic of the many film adaptations of Mary Shelley's chilling gothic novel of the same name, largely due to Boris Karloff's definitive portrayal of the creature, which cemented the image of Frankenstein’s monster in our collective consciousness. The garish green and black colours and kitsch cartoonish monster make this hair-raisingly scarce poster a sought after alternative to the exceptionally rare examples from the original 1931 release, which change hands for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Excellent (A-)

Conservation backed on linen with no restoration. Prior to backing this poster had one vertical and three horizontal machine folds as issued, with two very light additional horizontal folds, minor splits to crossfolds and light creasing to corners and edges. Backing has smoothed and diminished the appearance of folds and creases for display. A small chip to right edge. Some green ink smudges to title from the printing process. A whispers of discolouration to upper left corner. Image and colours otherwise excellent.
