A scarce promotional poster issued by New York label Private Stock Records in support of Blondie's eponymous debut album, released in December 1976. A holy grail item for Blondie collectors, Debbie Harry reportedly detested the trashy image of herself in a sexy see-through top and the band were furious with the use of Harry's image to promote the group's record, leading to the Blondie Is A Group t-shirt and button campaign. Following disappointing sales due to poor publicity by Private Stock, the New Wave band signed with the larger British label Chrysalis Records the following September, who re-released the album in October 1977.
Condition
Very good (B+)
Backed on linen in the European style with no restoration whatsoever. Prior to backing this poster had one vertical and one horizontal machine fold as issued, with minor surface loss to folds - typical of high gloss posters of this period, a 1 in. diagonal crease to lower left edge in white ground and a 4 in. vertical crease to upper right corner with similar fine surface loss. Backing has smoothed and diminished these minor imperfections, improving the poster's appearance for display. Image and colours otherwise excellent.
