Having designed the Rolling Stones 1970 European Tour poster while a student at the Royal College of Art, and subsequently created the band's famous tongue and lips logo the following year, John Pasche was asked by Mick Jagger to design a poster for their 1972 American Tour featuring the lips logo on their tour plane. Inspired by travel posters of the 1920s and 1930s and representing a legendary tour with the Stones at the peak of their powers following the release of Exile on Main Street, the stunning tour poster has become a classic among collectors, leading to a number of reprints on the market. Originals are identified by the John Pasche and Production by Chipmonck credits in the bottom left corner and Sunday Promotions Inc. 1972 credit in the bottom right corner. An example of this poster is held in the permanent collection of the V&A Museum, London.
