A rare pre-press printer's proof of a concert poster designed by David Singer for the first show on The Who's Quadrophenia tour at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, 20th November 1973. Famously, the band's drummer Keith Moon collapsed on his drums mid-way through the show, incapacitated by the tranquillisers and brandy that he'd consumed to calm his pre-show nerves. After stopping the show to announce that Moon had eaten something he shouldn't have eaten... foreign food, Pete Townshend asked if anybody in the audience could fill in for the rest of the show. Nineteen-year old Scott Halpin from Iowa emerged from the crowd to play the final three songs of the show with The Who. The poster appears in Paul Grushkin's The Art of Rock.
