An extremely rare and striking poster for the first British release of the 1972 semi-documentary of doomed Warhol Superstar Edie Sedgwick. Original footage from 1967 following Sedgwick's fictional alter-ego Susan Superstar during her drug-fuelled Manhattan party years was later paired with drug-induced audio recordings of Sedgwick recounting her past, capturing her complete deterioration from drug addiction and making comment on the excesses of fame. Before the film's release, Sedgwick died of a barbiturates overdose in November 1971. Ciao! Manhattan received very limited distribution on it's original release, with screenings in London, Germany, France, San Diego, Denver, and Tempe, Arizona following the critically acclaimed premiere in Amsterdam in 1972. Thereafter forgotten for nearly a decade, it has become a cult classic with the enduring interest in Edie Sedgwick and Warhol's Factory.
