An exceedingly rare billboard sized British double quad for the Royal World Charity Premiere of For Your Eyes Only at the Odeon Leicester Square, London, on Wednesday 24th June 1981. The glitzy premiere was attended by royals Princess Margaret, Prince Charles and the then Lady Diana Spencer - the couple were due to be married a month later. A TV special was recorded featuring interviews with Albert R. 'Cubby' Broccoli, Julian Glover, Lynn-Holly Johnson, Michael Wilson, John Glen, Sheena Easton, and Roger Moore.
The twelfth film in the James Bond series, EON Productions For Your Eyes Only saw a return to earth with a more realistic and less sensational storyline after the extravagance of Moonraker. In Roger Moore's fifth outing as 007, he attempts to recover a top-secret British encryption device capable of controlling the British submarine fleet. Bill Gold's iconic "legs" concept, featuring Bond between the long legs of a crossbow-toting babe, was used throughout the global advertising campaign for the film and has become one of the most recognisable Moore era Bond images. Much like the more widely released British quad, this special British double quad utilised Gold's "legs" concept as a central feature amidst a montage of action scenes by illustrator Brian Bysouth.
Condition
Excellent (A-)
Backed on linen in the European style with no restoration whatsoever. Prior to backing this poster had three vertical and three horizontal fold lines with some double or triple creasing to folds in places and minor nicks and creases to corners and edges. Backing has smoothed and diminished the folds and minor imperfections, improving the poster's appearance for display. Image and colours excellent.
