The third and final installment of George Lucas' original Star Wars trilogy saw Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford reprise their roles as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo to take on the evil empire. Originally titled Revenge of the Jedi, Lucas switched to Return of the Jedi when he realised that the concept of revenge would be out of character for the chivalric Jedi. Artist Josh Kirby's dynamic design for the British release featured a cosmic montage of key characters from the film with Darth Vader's looming presence above. Two versions of the quad poster were produced - the more common "action style" features an exploding sandskiff, Boba Fett and Imperial Guards, whereas those elements are replaced by a cuddly ewok below Han Solo in the less common "ewok style" seen here.
Condition
Excellent (A-)
Conservation backed on linen in the European style with no restoration whatsoever. Prior to backing this poster had three horizontal and three vertical fold lines with minor splits to crossfolds, a couple of creases radiating from crossfolds and a few minor nicks and creases to edges. Backing has smoothed and diminished folds and creases, improving their appearance for display. Image and colours excellent.
