A vibrant pink poster for a performance by American garage punk band The Cramps at Markthalle, Hamburg, Germany, on 18 April 1986 in support of their third studio album A Date with Elvis. Two separate bootleg recordings of this concert have been released. Part of the CBGB punk rock scene in New York, The Cramps are noted as one of the first American garage punk bands and pioneers of psychobilly. Active until 2009 with an evolving line-up, husband and wife duo Lux Interior and Poison Ivy comprised the only ever-present members. The poster design reflected the band's post-glam punk image and penchant for retro horror/sci-fi b-movie iconography.
Condition
Very Good (B+)
Conservation backed on linen in the European style with no restoration. Backing has smoothed and diminished fold lines, edge wear and a handful of surface scuffs. Some surface colour loss to nicks, creases and minor tears along right edge, no larger than 0.25in. A faint orangey spot stain to upper left corner. Image and colours otherwise excellent.
