Featuring not one but two stunning portraits of Audrey Hepburn, it doesn't get much rosier than this US One Sheet for 1957 musical Funny Face. Mutual admiration drew Hepburn and Fred Astaire to take part in the film - the producers secured their two leading actors by telling each star that they had already signed the other. Hepburn had dreamed of one day working with Astaire, and likewise he was eager to work with her, telling a reporter This could be the last and only opportunity I'd have to work with the great and lovely Audrey, and I was not missing it. Loosely based on photographer Richard Avedon's early career, the film saw Hepburn play a studious Greenwich Village bookseller, whisked off to Paris by fashion photographer Astaire and transformed into a high fashion model. In a frothy finale, the pair dance in the grounds of a Chantilly chapel before drifting away on a raft to the strains of Gershwin's S'wonderful.
Condition
Excellent (A-)
Backed on linen. Prior to backing this poster had one vertical and three horizontal machine folds as issued, with some wear to crossfolds and light creasing to corners. Backing and light colour touching has smoothed and diminished the folds ensuring the poster looks spectacular for display. A faint smudge above Audrey's right hand and another to upper right corner. Image and colours excellent.
