The third and final instalment of George Lucas' original Star Wars trilogy saw Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford reprise their roles as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo to take on the evil empire. Originally titled Revenge of the Jedi, Lucas renamed the movie Return of the Jedi when he realised that the concept of revenge would be out of character for the chivalric Jedi. By the time the title had been changed, thousands of Revenge posters, with superb artwork by Drew Struzan depicting a lightsaber duel between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, had already been printed. According to the Star Wars Poster Book by Peter Vilmur and Steve Sansweet, Lucasfilm halted distribution of the posters and destroyed all but 6800 copies, which were sold in three days to Star Wars fan club members for $9.50. Surviving copies are increasingly scarce and sought after.
