An exceptionally rare poster for the first Polish release of the 1958 classic French slapstick comedy Mon Oncle written, directed, produced by and starring Jacques Tati as the eccentric hero Monsieur Hulot. Featuring the same superb Pierre Etaix artwork as the French release poster with it's bold silhouette design, this is the only copy of this poster we have ever seen come up for sale. Mon Oncle's satire of post-war consumer society was popular even in the US, winning the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Condition
Very good (B)
Backed on linen. Prior to backing this poster had one horizontal fold line, a staple hole to each upper corner and old tape marks to lower edge verso. Backing has smoothed out the fold and expert restoration to the tape marks at lower edge, which extends into the lower credit line, has improved the appearance of the poster ready for display. Light rippling to linen. Image and colours otherwise excellent.
