German Tour Poster
Based on Pink Floyd's 1979 narrative concept album of the same name, The Wall follows the descent into madness of Bob Geldof's troubled rock star Pink as he constructs a metaphorical wall to isolate himself from the world. Like the album, Pink Floyd bassist and lyricist Roger Waters wrote the screenplay, influenced by his growing alienation from fans, the death of his father in the Second World Ward and the deterioration of the band's original vocalist Syd Barrett. Directed by Alan Parker, the film features a mix of live-action scenes and animation sequences created by British cartoonist and illustrator Gerald Scarfe, who had designed the original album cover and stage designs for the subsequent tour. Scarfe's emotive watercolour artwork and signature lettering are also seen on this now iconic US One Sheet poster for the film. This is the international style one sheet, meaning it was printed in the US for use outside the US.
